The day before the 4th, I went into one of my favorite boutiques, Apricot Lane, and the owner recommended this perfect peplum top! OBSESSED! I love the white lace and how it flatters my figure. The back is see thru, but with a matching cardigan, it’s great for work! I’ve been honestly wearing it nonstop though. Please enjoy the setting of the pictures in front of my office and also Fancy Pants’ reflection in the windows! (And his thumbs up haha) I should also point out his “sexy truck,” his words of course ;). Top: Apricot Lane (found in stores) | Cardigan: Q (similar) | Pants: Target | Wedges: Charlotte Russe (save | splurge) | Necklace: White House Black Market (similar)
It’s no secret that buying office supplies is a thrill for me. Yes, just typing that makes me feel like an adult, ew. But I do absolutely love it. It used to be school supplies, but now it’s things for my desk and office. It’s easy to rack up a $75 bill at Staples on random crap you think you need, but I’m here to share the items I really love that are worth buying. I also did a similar post to this almost a year ago when I started mgD, so you can check that out here!
You know those moments in a clothing store when an item just grabs your attention and screams buy me? This dress called my name. I was in Banana Republic with Fancy Pants with a whole slew of sale rack of striped dresses and decided I needed to try this on too. Of course this was my favorite and full price. Weeks later, a 40% sale popped up, and this was coming home with me. It’s a perfect classic work dress that will be a great one to also wear to a nice dinner or date. Plus, it has pockets! CHA CHING. I decided to play up the color blocking of the navy and green with the purple pumps. Big thank you to my Work BFF, Mindy, for snapping these on our lunch break yesterday since G was working. :)
I picked up these three winning pieces in the last week. The Olivia + Joy bag is the perfect great staple black leather bag which surprisingly I didn’t have. The perfect classic staple for any girl’s wardrobe — the navy striped dress. This one is a MUST on sale right now from Banana Republic! The ponte material keeps it form fitting and flattering combined with the elbow length sleeves. But really for me, one of my favorite purchases in a long time (how often do I say that? haha) are these pointed toe pumps. My goodness, Marshalls you win again. Clearance BCBG light pink patent pumps. These three staples pull together a completely classic year round (in Arizona) look that will never be tired.
A white blazer was on my spring fashion must haves list way back in December. This cotton boyfriend one is the perfect fit and is so comfortable, plus it goes with everything. I decided that for Casual Friday, I’d pair it with a pair of boyfriend jeans for the ultimate in relaxed chic. Here is my last LAST LAST reminder about my Fabulous 100 Giveaway, it ends TONIGHT at 11:59 PST. You need to get the show on the road and enter if you haven’t because it will be someone else winning $100 in Hope‘s cash and beautiful monogram notecards from Harriet Ann Creative, not you.
Chevron just screams fun, even for a Monday work day. I love the bright orange color that’s absolutely perfect for spring. I paired this great top with one of my new favorite pairs of work pants. If you know me, you know I’d wear leggings to work every day if I could. Well these are the closest thing I can get to leggings without ya know, being leggings. They’re comparable to the J.Crew Minnies at a fabulous Target price in a bunch of different colors. If you’re an office working girl, you must must MUST add them to your work wardrobe! I just wish they hit right at my ankle like they’re supposed to. I’m a midget practically, so cuffing is a constant. Also, these photos were brought to you by the wind. It seems that every time I wear my hair done for blog photos it’s freaking WINDY, so I look like a crazy with my hair all over the place.
I know you’re probably thinking, “Danielle, just how many colored blazers do you have?” At any given time, my closet is stocked with 5-6 blazers and only two of those are black. I consider blazers not only a wardrobe essential, but a staple. This one is special because it was a Christmas present from my momma. After seeing it at Gap early last fall and falling in love with it, my mom went back and snatched it up for me. I’ve been patiently waiting to style it for work. I knew the black pants and oxford would pair so wonderfully with it especially when I added the matching colored pumps.
Also, you can tell I have a new layout!!! Everything is updated and fabulous. I hoped that this Spring, my obsession with corals and turquoises would subside, but lo and behold on my shopping trips last week most of my purchases were one of these colors. Coral never fails to say spring to me and right now that’s what I’m craving. I also have a serious love affair with chiffon tops. I think there are so many options and this pocketed high low short sleeve is fabulous. It has amazing button detailing on the back and looks perfect with jeans and leggings. I also couldn’t pass up a neutral top to wear with this fabulous bauble with a mesh overlay that I picked up too! Oh yes and it’s quite clear that’s been really windy hence the blowing of the shirt and my lovely hair that did at one point during the day look so effortless. I think that was when I was still in my bathroom before I left for work.
I’m in love with all of these pieces individually, but together it’s a winning combination head to almost toes. Friday was our annual office awards luncheon. It’s a huge deal for staff because there’s so much preparation for it, but we also have to stand up and be introduced in front of 200 people, so looking less than your best isn’t an option. I decided that on this gloomy day, I’d rock the sleeveless sheer chiffon tucked into my current favorite metallic silver skirt. I also amped it up with pops of color in my sequin flowered headband and in my baby Carrie Bradshaw-esque purse. (Made by yours truly)!
There’s nothing more comfy than an oversized sweater, messy ponytail, and moccasins. It’s one of my go to weekend lounging looks, so because I was so sleepy this morning I decided to channel the comfy into a striped body con with tights. I decided to pull the purple in the striped skirt into my purple leopard scarf. The tights just made it warm and perfect. I definitely wouldn’t have made it through my long meeting filled Thursday without the comfort of this outfit.
