I’m a huge fan of the sixties housewife style. Call me old fashioned, but I like to think of my style as classic with a edge. I paired this fabulous polka dot shirtdress with stud pumps (similar to the beautiful Valentino, but like 5% of the cost and just as fabulous looking!) and my DIY pearl safety pin necklace. I think it’s the perfect mix of girly with the polka dots and pearls and edgy with the studs and safety pins. It’s all about keeping them guessing! The weather is showing no signs of breaking yet, so I feel like I’m running out of options that fit under the umbrella of cute, but cool (as in don’t make me feel like it’s 500 degrees outside!) Fancy Pants and I celebrated our anniversary on Sunday at dinner and the Arizona Science Center. (Nerd alert!) I decided to pair my favorite Lilly skirt with this bright orange creamsicle tshirt. I wanted to add something to make it really pop, so I finally got to wear my Ily Couture fringe necklace!! Currently it’s not shipping until September 2nd, so if you can’t wait, check it out on Benevolent Jewels (and use this code for 20% off your total purchase: MGDCODE20)!!! Tshirt: Banana Republic | Skirt: Lilly Pulitzer | Necklace: ILY Couture (also Benevolent Jewels) | Sandals: Target | Crossbody Bag: Rebecca Minkoff | Nails: essie fiji
The day before the 4th, I went into one of my favorite boutiques, Apricot Lane, and the owner recommended this perfect peplum top! OBSESSED! I love the white lace and how it flatters my figure. The back is see thru, but with a matching cardigan, it’s great for work! I’ve been honestly wearing it nonstop though. Please enjoy the setting of the pictures in front of my office and also Fancy Pants’ reflection in the windows! (And his thumbs up haha) I should also point out his “sexy truck,” his words of course ;). Top: Apricot Lane (found in stores) | Cardigan: Q (similar) | Pants: Target | Wedges: Charlotte Russe (save | splurge) | Necklace: White House Black Market (similar)
One of the easiest and most unexpected ways to make the most of your wardrobe no matter the season is to find the dresses that you can wear as skirts. You can do this either by belting with a sweater in the fall or winter or tying a tanktop or chambray in the spring and summer. I love it with chambrays over a pattern dress like this tribal one. You get more use out of your dresses and your closet feels fuller without any new purchases season to season! Dress (worn as a skirt): Target | Chambray: Old Navy (similar) | Wedges: Charlotte Russe (save | splurge) | Crossbody: Rebecca Minkoff | Lips: maybelline baby lips in pink shock | Nails: essie miss fancy pants
Whoever said that maxi skirts were the summer version of yoga pants…was absolutely right. I like to pretend that I’m all kinds of put together when I’m wearing one, but it’s really just comfortable and versatile. My new found way to wear is with that wonderful silk cami I raved about with a an easy top knot. Perfect for an almost rainy and super windy day that happened right after I took these pictures. #bloggerprobs
Oh my goodness this romper! I saw this in the LOFT window a few weeks ago and have been lusting. Two days ago, we got a LOFT package on our doorstep and my mom had picked it up for me!! Because truly it’s the perfect romper: comfortable, fun, polka dots, and HAS POCKETS! Need I say more? I think it’s a great romper to dress up or down depending upon the accessories. Cardi and sandals for everyday or wedges and a nice bag for going out. Right now, you can get it for 30% off online with the code: LOVELOFT. Romper: LOFT | Wedges: Forever21 (splurge/save) | Bag: Olivia + Joy | Belt: Forever21 (similar) | Necklace: Banana Republic | Nails: OPI Designer de Better
These chino shorts are my absolute fave. They go with everything since I consider hot pink a neutral. ;) I picked up this great summer to fall transition blouse and knew it’d be great to pair with those shorts. Black and white is going to be huge for the fall and it’s still light enough to wear now. Plus, I’m clearly still in the obsession phase with my RM 5 Zip Mini! This was a great look to wear to a casual birthday lunch and then to a family bbq. Top: Target | Shorts: Banana Republic | Flats: Target | Crossbody: Rebecca Minkoff | Watch: Michael Kors | Belt: H&M (splurge/save)
My romper addiction grows daily. Truly, if I could wear a romper all day every day, I would. Just ask my mom, it’s that bad. This is the newest one in my collection and I’m obsessed with the fun tribal print. It’s cute, comfortable, and so summer appropriate. It’s also just long enough (a typical issue for rompers) and it has an adorable heart cut out in the back for an extra something. Fancy Pants took these amazing style photos after we got lost for 45 minutes looking for a Chase Bank in downtown San Diego, there’s always a positive to every negative right? I’d also like to share the wonderful fact that the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale started today and in this post, I’m sharing my purchase from the Early Access: my Rebecca Minkoff 5 Zip Mini Crossbody bag with silver hardwear. I looooove. It’s a perfect size for all of the essentials, a perfect color for year round, and a perfect price right now during the sale!!
After hearing absolutely wonderful things about The Southern Shirt Company, I placed my first order prior to heading to San Diego and I bought two of their unisex Signature Tank Tops: one for me (Neon Pink, naturally) and one for Fancy Pants (in Kiwi)! I really wanted us to have something easy to throw on at the beach and to walk around town in. These absolutely fit the bill. They were comfy 100% cotton and had that perfect casual loose “just a bit too big, but seriously cute” summer look to them. It’s right up Fancy Pants’ alley to wear a casual tank every single day if he can and I’ve been happily wearing mine as often as possible…when I’m not confined to a desk. Guaranteed, these won’t be the last ones I buy.
My love for this denim vest shouldn’t be any surprise. It’s been one of my most versatile warm weather pieces this year. I decided change up the look of a simple strapless maxi by half way buttoning up the vest over top for the look of a shirt. It was crazy slimming and hit my waist at the tiniest part. I think it’s a perfect addition to any maxi, especially a patterned one for a great Bohemian look. Plus, if you didn’t notice from my last personal style post, my hair is darker! Eeeps! This is my natural color and I’ve fallen back in love with it. I also decided to take the plunge and get a Brazilian blowout and let me just tell you, best hair decision ever. But that’s another post for another day. ;)
