Sigma Mrs. Bunny Essential Kit Review

DSC00491bYou can call this the most long overdue post in the history of MGD or the review of my Sigma Mrs. Bunny Essential Brush Kit! I received these for Christmas and I’ve been in love since the very first use. As a good blogger, I took pictures immediately before I even let them touch my face, but unfortunately they ended up in some rando folder. Alas, they’ve been found and the review is happening. Read on.
DSC00489bThe Mrs. Bunny Essential Kit is an adorable set of 12 Vegan Friendly brushes in a perfect travel tube that are made with Sigma’s famous Sigmax HD which besides the look of the brushes was the biggest selling point for me. They’re made to flawlessly apply both powder AND cream products with ease. I’ve never been one to shell out money on expensive makeup brushes, but I realized that if I’m spending the money on expensive makeup, I need to buy brushes that make those products look amazing. I’m SO glad I did because it changed the way my makeup looked because of how these brushes picked up and distributed product on my face and eyes. They make everything so blended and smooth. They’re SO worth it.
DSC00490bDuo Fibre F50, Large Powder F30, Large Angled Contour F40,  Foundation F60, Large Shader E60, Tapered Blending E40, Medium Angled Shading E70, Eye Shading E55, Concealer F70, Pencil E30, Eyeliner E05, Small Angle E65

I was really worried that they wouldn’t look or work as well after the first or second or even 50th wash and they did! They still work just as well today as they did back in December! I use them everyday and travel with them and honestly they’re worth every penny and for the price PER brush, they’re way less expensive than other high end brands such as MAC or Bobbi Brown.

DSC00492bAs you can see if you check out the Sigma brushes now, these have pink ferrules and the new version has the sleek slilver!! If you’re looking for makeup brushes, definitely check out this set or the travel version of Mrs. Bunny! They’re also available in the Mr. Bunny which has black handles. Plus, any Sigma Beauty purchase over $30 qualifies you for a free gift if you use that link or click through the link on my sidebar!! :)

Then thePinkPanel is absolutely for you! The Pink Panel is a beauty, makeup, and skin care focused consumer panel where you get to try the latest and greatest products available! I received my first samples of products recently and I’m in love!

It was packaged in the cutest pink pouch with nail and hand themed products. There’s the Kiss Nail Dress in Corset, which is the most fun neon polka dot print that I’ll be using as an accent nail. These are similar to the Sally Hansen, but they last longer and can be used for both your nails and your toes! Also, a Julep Everyday SPF 30 Hand Cream, was included. It’s very hydrating and the SPF is perfect to protect one of the most exposed parts of your body from the sun! The last and my most favorite product that was included was a nail polish specifically made for the thePinkPanel called Nail tini. It was completely opaque and smooth in one coat and was such a great formula. Plus it was the most perfect PINK!

Bioderma Créaline H2O
– Okay, so I wish I didn’t love this stuff as much as I do because it’s from France and it’s expensive and I have to buy it on Amazon. (Shipping ughh!) It’s a cleansing water that I use every night with a cotton round to take off all of my makeup. It’s WON-DER-FUL.

My new baby that does it all. Most of you have iPhones, so no need to elaborate!

GARNIER Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream
The original non oil free version has a bad reputation for breakouts, so I was weary to try this one. But when Bzz Agent sent me the Oil Free version for free, I decided to give it a whirl and it’s amazing!! It’s lightweight, keeps my skin matte, and is non comedogenic or cause pore clogging/breakouts. It absorbs quick and keeps my skin from looking cakey or made up. I use the Medium/Deep, but it also comes in Light/Medium and Deep, so you’re sure to find a good summer time color! I love how great my skin looks when I use it and sometimes I mix it with my foundation for an even more flawless finish and the added SPF 20!

Le Pens 10-Pack Multicolor
These are my new pen obsession. They’re so smooth and write so pretty. I love all of the colors they come in and the fine tip. These trump any other writing utensil I’ve ever used and I’m a serious pen whore. (Yes, that’s a real thing. haha)

Bath & Body Works First Bloom Candle
There’s always one stand out candle for me in a month that’s constantly found burning in my office and this was it. It’s a blend of peony, apple blossom, and plumeria according to the description because if it were up to me I would just say it smells like yummy flowers.

Covergirl Clump Crusher Mascara
This has been my go to mascara! Literally Clump Crusher is so accurate. I can put 3 or 4 layers on my lashes and they don’t clump or get weighed down! It’s awesome. I love the shape of the wand and I think it gets all of lashes really well. I use the water resistant formula and it does not budge with tears. Trust me, I was sobbing on the side of the road after my tire blow out and it didn’t end up down my face, but it’s so easy to take off at night. It’s not my favorite ever, but it’s a great drugstore option!

What were some of your April Favorites? Leave them in the comments below!

What’s in my Bag

I think I first discovered the Youtube beauty community via What’s in my Bag/Purse videos. I could watch those videos for hours on end and it was actually how I fell in love with my LV Speedy. There’s something so fascinating to see what other women keep in their bags because purses can be like a home away from home. You keep the things you use most often and swear by close at hand at all times. At least I do anyway. All of these necessities/totally random array of goodies/germaphobe tendencies are kept in my handy dandy (has anyone ever refferred to a LV as handy dandy? haha) Louis Vuitton Speedy 35 that Fancy Pants graciously gave to me for this past Christmas. It is a perfect size and is such a classic bag that goes with any outfit.

Friday Favorite on Tueday: BA STAR Smoky Eyeshadow Palette

I’m excited to share last week’s Friday Favorite as this great eyeshadow/highlight palette and this great makeup brand, BA Star. Before I get into the review and swatches, does anyone remember that Lindsay Lohan (pre blonde/drug days) and Tyra Bank’s movie, LifeSize, and there was that song Shine bright, shine far, don’t be shy, be a star!!? The name of this brand totally reminded me of that. haha. I received this sample shadow palette to review and please remember I do not offer anything less than 100% honesty in a review and only on products I feel are applicable to my blog. :) BA Star is one of the top makeup and beauty brands for Dancers, Cheerleaders, and Entertainers. Their brand is affordable and great for not only performers, but for the everyday girl especially with their new Smoky Eye Eyeshadow Palettes. They’re available for $8.75 retail (keep reading for a 50% off code!!) and in four different color combinations: Smoky, Natural, Pretty N Pink, & True Blue! I received the Natural one which was perfect for me and my taste in makeup.

Each palette is made up of five shades: 3 highly pigmented, long wearing mineral eyeshadows and 2 glitter highlighting gels. There’s also a double ended mini brush and applicator for use on the go if you’re in a pinch.

The palette is a sturdy plastic and perfect for travel which obviously makes it ideal for a performance situation.

bronze and cocoa

cocoa, nude, and gold glitter

nude, gold glitter, and crystal glitter

The pigmentation on these is crazy. The texture is very smooth and almost cream like. I would say it’s consistent with a cream to powder finish on the shadows. They’re easily blendable and wear for about 8-9 hours with a primer and about 5-6 without. The glitter is as expected very glittery. It’s a gel base that isn’t too sticky or chunky and would probably work best for a dancer, cheerleader, stage type situation. It’s not an everyday thing for me, but they’re very pigmented as well.

I have been wearing these everyday this past week and have so enjoyed the versatility with just these three shadows. You can do an easy quick look with just the light vanilla Nude colored shade all over the lid or you can do a brown smokey eye with the deep Cocoa shade. I got quite a few compliments on how pretty they are on the eye at work. This has definitely become one of my staple neutral palettes.

Now, if you’re interested in this Natural Shadow palette or one of the other three Smoky Eyeshadow Palettes from BA STAR, you can get 50% Off with the code: BBSMOKY

*As previously stated, I received this sample from BA STAR to review powdered by BrandBacker. All opinions are 100% honest and my own. I only review and accept samples for products that are applicable to my blog.

Rave Review: Urban Decay The Glinda Palette

I’m so very excited about this rave review today! I wasn’t sure I was going to even do it, but since I took the photos and everything, I thought why not? This is a single product review of the limited edition Urban Decay Oz the Great and Powerful Glinda Palette. It is one of two limited edition eyeshadow palettes Urban Decay has released for the Oz the Great and Powerful movie. This is the lighter, more feminine “good witch” palette for Glinda.

The packaging is similar to most other smaller six pan Urban Decay palettes except for the fact that eyeshadows are able to be popped out like their Build Your Own Palette system. It is a rounded square shaped tin which isn’t an ideal size for travel, but it’s definitely not too bulky. I feel like it’s sturdier than the NAKED palettes.  It also has a fairly decent sized mirror on the other half of the palette.

There are 8 brand new shadows in this palette all themed around the Good Witch. As with most Urban Decay shadows, they’re soft, buttery, and crazy pigmented. This palette introduces two duo shades with the pan split in half with two shades. They are .05 oz. which is the same size as each shadow in the NAKED palettes.

Tornado -vibrant deep purple shimmer

Aura – iridescent white with blue shift and iridescent white with red shift

Magic – pinkish purple with golden shimmer

Illusion – pale peach satin

Oz – gold with gold glitter and silver with silver glitter

South – warm pale gray shimmer with silver micro glitter

These are swatched backwards from the list above. The shades are all very pigmented as one would come to expect with Urban Decay without any fall out.. They have amazing lasting power especially over a primer or base. I love how girly the shades are. I’ve also swatched the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Rockstar which is a deep eggplant and also the Urban Decay Super Saturated High Gloss Color in Glinda which is a light sheer nude included with the palette. Both of these are fabulous especially the lip pencil. They compliment the shades in the palette so well. (I had separate pictures of these, but I can’t seem to find them on my iPhoto)

The palette also includes a little guide to the Glinda eye look just like Michelle Williams as Glinda in the film which is a great starting point for any fabulous eye looks.

I think this is a fabulous collector’s palette beautifully showcasing Glinda from Oz the Great and Powerful at $49. I’m totally in love with all of the colors and It’s a great palette to add to your collection too! (Unless you’re less good witch and more bad witch like Theodora)

February 2013 Favorites

feb faves.jpg

Estee Lauder Double Wear Liquid Makeup New holy grail foundation!! As recommended by the beautiful Emily, I decided to give this a whirl and got matched at a counter at Dillards, got a sample, and fell in love. It has amazing coverage and the most INCREDIBLE staying power (even without powder), but it’s not heavy or cakey. I’ve gotten so many compliments and it’s not as pricey as a lot of other high end foundations.

NARS Orgasm Powder BlushA lifetime favorite blush and it’s been my go to for a fabulous coral glow on my cheekbones. I love it with just foundation, mascara, and gloss for a natural look.

The Carrie Diaries- Are you surprised? No? Yeah I thought so. I loved this show from the first episode: the music (I have a playlist on my Spotify), the fashion (I’ve done two themed blog posts here & here), and the characters. I’m an eternal Sex & the City lover and I so enjoyed the book that inspired this prequel. Give it a shot on CW on Monday Nights.

Josie MaranThe whole brand. I got a 500 pt Sephora perk with all Josie Maran samples and I’ve so enjoyed each and every product: She’s known for her Argan Oil, which I’ve been adding to my night time moisturizer and also to the ends of my hair after I wash it. I’ve been taking off my makeup on the go with the soft Bear Naked Wipes and like a dream at night with the Argan Cleansing Oil. (The stand out for me) I also adore the adorably packaged Argan Lip Treatment for my dry lips.

Bikram Yoga- This is a love/hate favorite. I’ve done yoga prior to Bikram, but this was a whole different ballgame. 105 degrees, a whole lotta humidity, and not a whole lotta clothing was something I’ve never experienced even in Arizona. It was HARD, like make you feel awful hard, but afterwards I felt so fabulous. It was nice because I got to learn the poses because it was repetitive and my flexibility got better. The benefits are amazing for your body too.

Vans Canvas Authentic in Pool GreenI haven’t owned Vans since high school and I don’t know why because these have been such a casual go to for me. I love the color and they’re so comfortable.

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex I got a sample of this award winning serum when I purchased the DoubleWear foundation and it’s been fabulous for my recovering skin. It’s been visibly helping my redness and hyperpigmentation and acne scarring after I apply it at night after cleansing.

Pimp my Speedy Bag Organizer for Speedy 35This is my two in one problem solver for my Speedy. It keeps the bottom from getting droopy and it also organizes the bottomless pocketless pit of a purse that I have. They have all the different sizes and the different interior colors. Use the code: speedy1 for an 8% discount!

Fight the Quiet: The City Below (link to preview clips)- I’m a bit biased when it comes to this album, but I am picky with my music. My best friend, Casey, is in this Alternative band and this is their new album dropping on April 16th. It’s been my go to in the car, in my office, everywhere. I love it. They’re so talented and their lyrics are so great. My favorite songs are Fireworks & Lead and Secrets and lucky for you Secrets is the first single off the album and it will be released TOMORROW on Amazon & iTunes!!! I highly recommend you check out Secrets tomorrow and The City Below on April 16th! I’ll also have a full album review for y’all soon. :)

January 2013 Favorites

January Favorites.jpg

Plants vs. Zombies HD for iPad- Obsession!! This game is a great mental distraction during the day and I think the whole concept is hilarious. Zombies chanting, “braiiiinssss,” as they attempt to attack a house while getting shot at by various plants.

Urban Decay NAKED Basics Palette– I considered giving this palette it’s own post, but it’s easily summed up as the wonderful almost matte baby of the NAKED & NAKED2 palettes. It’s a great size with amazingly pigmented neutral mattes that’s an amazing addition to the previous Nakeds.

The Jessica Darling Series (Sloppy Firsts..etc)– I started rereading these books this month because they were my high school faves and they’re even better now. The main character is a cynical dramatic girl that almost everyone can relate to. The books are so funny and witty and quick reads!

Smith’s Rosebud Salve Balm Tube– Holy grail lip balm! It’s so moisturizing and wonderful and so worth the money. It saved my lips in the cold of Reno this past month and it’s a staple in my bag.

L’Oreal Total Repair 5 Damage Erasing Balm– What an awesome and inexpensive hair mask. It’s a thick deep conditioner that seriously makes my hair feel and look so much healthier! Plus it’s cheap and the tub is HUGE!

Bigelow Green Tea– This has been a new found love of mine. I find myself drinking 3-4 cups a day and it’s amazing. There are so many health benefits to green tea and I’m glad I could replace multiple cups of coffee with it!

Emailing Kimberly– I’m linking this one to her blog directly, but she’s amazing, so follow her! Her and I started emailing this past month and it’s been nothing, but a blessing. She and I think the same and are able to bounce ideas back and forth. Her emails definitely have been a highlight of the month! She’s headed for big things and I can’t wait to see how successful she is! :)

Pitch Perfect– I don’t know how I didn’t watch this movie sooner. V bought it for me one late night at Walmart and I’ve watched it about 15 times in the past two weeks. It’s so funny and the songs are great and ughhh it’s literally perfect. MUST SEE! Plus the soundtrack is amazing too!

Neutrogena Healthy Volume Mascara– What did my lashes do before this mascara!? It’s seriously one of the best I’ve ever tried. My tube of YSL Shocking Faux Cils was all dried up, so I decided to try it out. It’s awesome! I constantly have people asking me if I have fake lashes on or if I have lash extensions. It’s lengthening and volumizing without clumping: the perfect combination!

What are your favorites for the month? Leave them in the comments below. :)
