This is an effortless business casual look. I put together this look for my speaking debut (which went super well I might add!!) at our quarterly office meeting. I loved trading my heels for little white Keds a la Baby from Dirty Dancing. The real star of the show for this outfit was my newest and probably favorite DIY project ever ever, the pearl necklace with gold safety pins. I created this DIY from Honestly WTFand it was SO easy and so inexpensive (I picked up a Forever21 Pearl Necklace for $1.80!!). I’m a pearls girl, but this is just a new and chic twist on it inspired by the fabulous jewelry designer, Tom Binns. I think it’s always a great idea to take a simple outfit and punch it up with a great statement piece.
There’s nothing more comfy than an oversized sweater, messy ponytail, and moccasins. It’s one of my go to weekend lounging looks, so because I was so sleepy this morning I decided to channel the comfy into a striped body con with tights. I decided to pull the purple in the striped skirt into my purple leopard scarf. The tights just made it warm and perfect. I definitely wouldn’t have made it through my long meeting filled Thursday without the comfort of this outfit.
Sweater: H&M // Skirt: Forever21 // Tights: Forever21 // Moccasins: Steve Madden (similar) // Scarf: Gift from my best friend, Courtney
The colder it gets, the higher the collar is getting in the fashion world. The Peter Pan is still in full swing and I’m still crazy about it. I’ve traded in my pretend collar for this real sequin-y one similar to Pretty Little Liars’ star, Troian Bellisario. This whole outfit was inspired by her outfit on Good Morning America earlier this year including from pony tail to skirt. I also added the extra fun with the sparkly polka dot black tights which I’m OBSESSED with! This was the perfect super girly outfit to dress up for work.
It’s the day before Thanksgiving and I just got my outfit finalized YESTERDAY. Some may say this post is too little too late, but if you’re like me one of the last things on your mind was what to wear on Thanksgiving day. It was all about tying up all the loose ends at work, finishing that last paper before your flight home, or getting the house clean before the big day I’m sure. But now you’re stressing. My family tends to be all over the board in terms of what to wear on Thanksgiving. I enjoy getting a little dressy, but we are quite casual compared to most. (Jeans are allowed/most prefer them.) These outfits are by no means formal. They’re definitely just easy fall outfits that will keep you comfortable after you eat just a bit too much on Turkey Day.
Outfit #1: A simple neutral colored cozy sweater paired with a fun metallic/slightly sequin-y skirt either tucked in or just over top with an easy black patent leather flat. Sweater // Skirt // Flats
Outfit #2: A cowl neck sweater dress in a dusty pink with a light brown belt matching the light brown riding boots. Dress // Belt // Boots
Outfit #3: A pretty patterned feather chiffon top over indigo leather jeggings for a girly meets edgy vibe topped off with taupe suede lace up booties for comfortable height. Top // Jeggings // Booties
These three outfits are just basic ideas and are easy to change up and personalize to your own style and wardrobe which is great in a pinch and when you’re trying to save your money for a crazy Black Friday sale. If you saw my instagram post this morning, then you were quite aware that we had a “severe weather alert” because woah, it was actually going to feel like November today in the mid 60’s. It was my baby brother’s last football game of the season and it was super windy out, so I was glad I was bundled up and cozy. I decided to mix it up and wear gray polka dot leggings instead of the typical plain black. They also paired well with the leopard scarf. Mixing patterns is one of my favorite things, but sometimes I don’t know how to do it without looking like a crazy person. Using neutral similar colors and smaller patterns, it’s easily accomplished. And come on, no chilly day is complete without my signature French Vanilla latte in a red cup!!
love the double zipper detailing on these boots!
