My romper addiction grows daily. Truly, if I could wear a romper all day every day, I would. Just ask my mom, it’s that bad. This is the newest one in my collection and I’m obsessed with the fun tribal print. It’s cute, comfortable, and so summer appropriate. It’s also just long enough (a typical issue for rompers) and it has an adorable heart cut out in the back for an extra something. Fancy Pants took these amazing style photos after we got lost for 45 minutes looking for a Chase Bank in downtown San Diego, there’s always a positive to every negative right? I’d also like to share the wonderful fact that the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale started today and in this post, I’m sharing my purchase from the Early Access: my Rebecca Minkoff 5 Zip Mini Crossbody bag with silver hardwear. I looooove. It’s a perfect size for all of the essentials, a perfect color for year round, and a perfect price right now during the sale!!
While my camera self timer and I are still at odds and my brother has a job, I’m finding it more difficult each day to get shots that I actually love especially when it’s 115 and I’m dying outside. These pictures may have turned out a bit more artsy than I anticipated, but I think they’re a great showcase of how to make a simple cotton LBD a little wild.
Long time no talk, lovelies! I’m back from LA and attempting to settle back into a normal routine. This will be the first post that I took my own outfit photos. Let me just tell you, it’s not easy because it’s like a guessing game of what’s in focus and how the lighting looks, etc. Please bear with me as this is a work in progress. Also in the next few weeks, you’ll be seeing some changes to my layout and everything as I make the switch over to being self hosted on WordPress.org which I’m VERY excited about. (I’m also really nervous, but hopefully I’ll avoid having a nervy b during the process.)
Now onto the outfit. I picked up this adorable t-shirt at Banana Republic (see below for a coupon code!!) before LA last week and decided to pair it with a simple black flowy mini skirt. It looked a bit boring that way so I loved being able to pull the color of the C’est la vie on the shirt with a scarf and also the stripes in the zebra print on the scarf. I also wanted to use this as a sneak peek into what the layout colors will be because they just happen to match my outfit! ;)
This is going to be a short outfit of the day because my camera was dying, we were running late, and my mom was behind the lens. One of her close friends had her baby shower this past weekend and I was SO excited to get dressed up for it. I actually stalked this dress for 25 minutes while the girl at Marshalls was putting new items on racks and I was scared (of what I don’t know) to go up and pull it off the rack before she put it out. It’s a combination horizontal stripe and vertical striped fit and flare mini dress which is super flattering. The styling options are truly endless for this dress, but I kept it neutral with a chunky black statement necklace and crazy high nude wedges. Before I introduce this new feature, I wanted to talk briefly about a contest I entered for American Eagle called the Project Live Your Life to be in their next campaign! I would SUPER appreciate and basically love you forever if you voted for me. It would be such an amazing opportunity for me and my blog. If you would love to help me out, click here and I’ll also have a button on the sidebar soon. :) Today is the first day of a new blog feature called “Work & Play” where I showcase my work outfit and then it’s transition to my “play” outfit. I frequently come home and have to run out somewhere else, but I don’t want to change everything, so I’ll typically be keeping one piece on and making it casual. This post shows a vertical striped chiffon top with a cotton pencil skirt for work and the ankle jeggings for play. And yes, I did do some casual cartwheeling on the very green grass!
I hoped that this Spring, my obsession with corals and turquoises would subside, but lo and behold on my shopping trips last week most of my purchases were one of these colors. Coral never fails to say spring to me and right now that’s what I’m craving. I also have a serious love affair with chiffon tops. I think there are so many options and this pocketed high low short sleeve is fabulous. It has amazing button detailing on the back and looks perfect with jeans and leggings. I also couldn’t pass up a neutral top to wear with this fabulous bauble with a mesh overlay that I picked up too! Oh yes and it’s quite clear that’s been really windy hence the blowing of the shirt and my lovely hair that did at one point during the day look so effortless. I think that was when I was still in my bathroom before I left for work.
You’ve been living under a rock if you haven’t seen this new trend first hitting the runways and now the streets. Celebrities are fully embracing the wedge sneaker, so I thought if they’re good enough for Miranda Kerr, they’re good enough for me. ;) These are definitely a trend item, so I will go back to my always reliable thoughts on trends: buy inexpensive because it won’t last forever. I can’t wait to transition these to spring with skirts, but for now the cardigan and skinnies will do. I’m in love with all of these pieces individually, but together it’s a winning combination head to almost toes. Friday was our annual office awards luncheon. It’s a huge deal for staff because there’s so much preparation for it, but we also have to stand up and be introduced in front of 200 people, so looking less than your best isn’t an option. I decided that on this gloomy day, I’d rock the sleeveless sheer chiffon tucked into my current favorite metallic silver skirt. I also amped it up with pops of color in my sequin flowered headband and in my baby Carrie Bradshaw-esque purse. (Made by yours truly)!
There’s nothing more comfy than an oversized sweater, messy ponytail, and moccasins. It’s one of my go to weekend lounging looks, so because I was so sleepy this morning I decided to channel the comfy into a striped body con with tights. I decided to pull the purple in the striped skirt into my purple leopard scarf. The tights just made it warm and perfect. I definitely wouldn’t have made it through my long meeting filled Thursday without the comfort of this outfit.
Sweater: H&M // Skirt: Forever21 // Tights: Forever21 // Moccasins: Steve Madden (similar) // Scarf: Gift from my best friend, Courtney
Today was my Momma’s birthday and it’s a tradition to always go out to her favorite steak restaurant every year. I wanted to be a little dressy, but nothing different from what I would wear to work because I wouldn’t have much time to change in between. I decided on this dress I picked up at Forever21 last weekend. My love of leopard is no secret, so when I literally saw it hanging from across the store, I told my mom it spoke to me. She said she was concerned if I thought clothes started speaking to me, but nonetheless it was love at first sight: leopard, high low, flowy, and of course inexpensive. I wore it with tights and booties at work and then amped it up with berry colored pumps and my leather jacket at night.
