I’m a huge fan of the sixties housewife style. Call me old fashioned, but I like to think of my style as classic with a edge. I paired this fabulous polka dot shirtdress with stud pumps (similar to the beautiful Valentino, but like 5% of the cost and just as fabulous looking!) and my DIY pearl safety pin necklace. I think it’s the perfect mix of girly with the polka dots and pearls and edgy with the studs and safety pins. It’s all about keeping them guessing! Happy Independence day lovelies!! I hope you’re all having a fabulously festive fourth with your friends and family! (Say that five times fast haha.) I decided to share a classic All American look with the star of the outfit being this effortless Tommy Hilfiger shirt dress. Can’t get more Americana than that. I belted it and added Jacks to complete an easy summer look for work and play! Shirt dresses are great way to look put together without making a huge effort everyday, plus they’re not stuffy in heat.
Long time no talk, lovelies! I’m back from LA and attempting to settle back into a normal routine. This will be the first post that I took my own outfit photos. Let me just tell you, it’s not easy because it’s like a guessing game of what’s in focus and how the lighting looks, etc. Please bear with me as this is a work in progress. Also in the next few weeks, you’ll be seeing some changes to my layout and everything as I make the switch over to being self hosted on WordPress.org which I’m VERY excited about. (I’m also really nervous, but hopefully I’ll avoid having a nervy b during the process.)
Now onto the outfit. I picked up this adorable t-shirt at Banana Republic (see below for a coupon code!!) before LA last week and decided to pair it with a simple black flowy mini skirt. It looked a bit boring that way so I loved being able to pull the color of the C’est la vie on the shirt with a scarf and also the stripes in the zebra print on the scarf. I also wanted to use this as a sneak peek into what the layout colors will be because they just happen to match my outfit! ;)
I went on a bit of Hope’s binge in the past week because my goodness, their summer stuff is just THE CUTEST. When I saw the So Abstract top, I just died. I loved the unique pattern, but of course it was the bow cut out sleeve detailing that just sold me. The top is a great black and white with a pop of coral on the sleeve that I paired with my favorite red pants from Target. I also wore my new Forever21 sunglasses that are keeping my lust at bay for the Prada Baroques…for now. This top sold out quickly as most of Hope’s adorable items do, but subscribe to their email newsletter for new items and possible restocks! Also, because it’s WEDNESDAY, I’ve linked up with the beautiful Adrienne at Black, White, Colorfor Trending Pretty Wednesday and you guys should too!
You know those moments in a clothing store when an item just grabs your attention and screams buy me? This dress called my name. I was in Banana Republic with Fancy Pants with a whole slew of sale rack of striped dresses and decided I needed to try this on too. Of course this was my favorite and full price. Weeks later, a 40% sale popped up, and this was coming home with me. It’s a perfect classic work dress that will be a great one to also wear to a nice dinner or date. Plus, it has pockets! CHA CHING. I decided to play up the color blocking of the navy and green with the purple pumps. Big thank you to my Work BFF, Mindy, for snapping these on our lunch break yesterday since G was working. :)
Every preppy girl loves a good critter pant or short. I’m not going to lie if I see different prints or colors, I have the urge to snatch them all up. When I saw these ankle crops at Old Navy a few months ago, I knew they would be coming home with me. I’m basically obsessed with the little lobsters. I paired it with a flowy cream peasant top and nude and white sandals. This is a great semi casual work look that still adds some color with the lobster detailing and the statement bauble.
Two of my summer must haves were a chambray blazer and gingham button down. Picking up both of these was a match made in heaven for casual Friday. The blazer is so light and goes with everything including denim itself. I found it by accident at Marshall’s and was quite excited! I think it will be great to style this season.
I’m also rocking a Gorjana bracelet from my first RocksBox that I received from iFabbo as a 6 month membership gift certificate! I love the style of this wrap bracelet and I love the color and how well it pairs with my style! RockBox is a jewelry box subscription service for $19/month to try three pieces of curated designer high end jewelry per box. You can keep each box (all three pieces) for up to 60 days or return the box right away for 3 new pieces, but it’s always $19/month! The return shipping is already paid for because they provide a package to send it back in which is great. Basically you fill out a style profile and that’s how they choose what goes in your box and if you love an item, or two, or all three, you can purchase them at 20% the retail!! Definitely check it out if you like switching up your jewelry like me! This is probably my favorite subscription service I’ve ever tried and definitely be on the look out for future styling of my RocksBox pieces!
*I received the RocksBox 6 Month Membership Gift Certificate via iFabbo for free. I am not being paid or sponsored to promote their box and as always, I only accept and review items that I feel are relavant to my blog’s content.
I picked up these three winning pieces in the last week. The Olivia + Joy bag is the perfect great staple black leather bag which surprisingly I didn’t have. The perfect classic staple for any girl’s wardrobe — the navy striped dress. This one is a MUST on sale right now from Banana Republic! The ponte material keeps it form fitting and flattering combined with the elbow length sleeves. But really for me, one of my favorite purchases in a long time (how often do I say that? haha) are these pointed toe pumps. My goodness, Marshalls you win again. Clearance BCBG light pink patent pumps. These three staples pull together a completely classic year round (in Arizona) look that will never be tired.
This look is so All American. The preppy girl inside me is obsessed with navy and stripes especially together. I’ve been on such a gray kick this spring, so I love this loose heather gray striped tee with these navy chinos. It was such a beautiful day at my baby bro’s first soccer game of this season. I’m excited to get back into my Saturday morning routine of photos of the little soccer kiddos especially in this beautiful 80 degree breezy Arizona weather! I also got my momma to take a few pictures with me. :)
I know you’re probably thinking, “Danielle, just how many colored blazers do you have?” At any given time, my closet is stocked with 5-6 blazers and only two of those are black. I consider blazers not only a wardrobe essential, but a staple. This one is special because it was a Christmas present from my momma. After seeing it at Gap early last fall and falling in love with it, my mom went back and snatched it up for me. I’ve been patiently waiting to style it for work. I knew the black pants and oxford would pair so wonderfully with it especially when I added the matching colored pumps.
Also, you can tell I have a new layout!!! Everything is updated and fabulous. I now have a button for you guys to grab for your blogs, I have sidebar links to all of my different features: wear, live, instagram, beautify, etc, so you can get right to the posts you’re looking for.
