Lucky Lucky Lilac

So I’ve gone from horizontal stripes yesterday to vertical ones today! This purple vertical striped chiffon top is a perfect spring to summer transition top because it’s breezy and drapey. I’m also rocking the second day waves with an eyelet bow headband. As you can see from this post especially I’ve started more working on editing. It’s become a big part of my outfit posts, dedicating the time to Photoshop. I’m loving experimenting with levels and colors and effects. My push to do this? Blogshop! Kimmie had asked me if I had heard about it and I hadn’t. I looked it up and knew I had to go (despit. Photoshop and blogging in a two day seminar in LA in June with 20-25 other people taught by Angela and Bri of and respectably. I’m so excited to be able to learn so much more about Photoshop and how to apply it to miss GLAM dan. By the way, the American Eagle overload was definitely not planned haha!

Dots on Dots on Dots

Literally, it’s dots on dots on dots from head to toe. I decided to mix up textures for my outfit. My top is a polka dotted eyelet white blouse, my pants are a circle printed black crop, paired with my beige dotted loafers with tassels. I think it’s totally acceptable to wear the same style of print in multiple pieces if they’re in varying textures and sizes staying neutral in color. I also got to add some color in my clutch, lips, and nails, so that added some contrast to the look. Once again God blessed me with another windy day, thankfully for the most part my Lana Del Rey inspired crazy teased hair stayed put.

Traffic Stopping Pink

These are my favorite jeggings ever, obviously because they’re hot highlighter pink. They’re definitely attention grabbing so I try to keep the rest of the outfit toned down usually with a white tshirt, ivory blazer or today’s pale pink lace chiffon top. The top has a lace button up front and then a chiffon back.  It’s going to start getting hot really quick, so it’s nice to have really light flowy fabrics in AZ. I also loved pairing it with a simple layered silver chain necklace with the rose gold chain accents on it to match the buttons. I liked how the ombre fuchsia hoops picked up all the  colors in the outfit too. Also, the sequin sandals have appeared for the second day in a row because they really are THAT fabulous.

Work & Play

work and play

Before I introduce this new feature, I wanted to talk briefly about a contest I entered for American Eagle called the Project Live Your Life to be in their next campaign! I would SUPER appreciate and basically love you forever if you voted for me. It would be such an amazing opportunity for me and my blog. If you would love to help me out, click here and I’ll also have a button on the sidebar soon. :) Today is the first day of a new blog feature called “Work & Play” where I showcase my work outfit and then it’s transition to my “play” outfit. I frequently come home and have to run out somewhere else, but I don’t want to change everything, so I’ll typically be keeping one piece on and making it casual. This post shows a vertical striped chiffon top with a cotton pencil skirt for work and the ankle jeggings for play. And yes, I did do some casual cartwheeling on the very green grass!

Tribal Teal

Am I ready for summer? Yes. But am I ready for the 115 degree weather? No. Not even a bit. I’m currently reveling in the wonderfully breezy and sunny 75 degrees. This is most definitely shorts and tanks weather and I’m so pleased. Like I mentioned in my So Coral post, coral and teal are my spring staple colors. When I spotted this shirt and these floral splattered shorts,  I knew they were a must. I love the tribal print on the loose flowy top and the great neon yellow piping detail down the sides. These shorts were on clearance at American Eagle and they looked awesome paired with the similarly colored top. Also, I broke out my new favorite sandals I fell in love with from the Prabal Gurung for Target collection. They look so classic  with the black and silver accents. They’re so well made and  I got so many surprised looks that they were from Target! What a fabulous collab with Prabal Gurung, Target! I know these will be a great summer staple for bbq’s and whatnot like the one I had on President’s Day with my fam. This post is part of the lovely Lauren at Style Elixir‘s Style Sessions Weekly Link Up!

Making Plaid Glam

I was totally not ready to be super chilly this morning at my baby brother’s soccer game. I decided to layer it up and break out the fur vest for a preppier look with the plaid shirt underneath. I played off of the edge in the vest with the ripped jeggings. Not only was I warm, but I felt so trend appropriate.  I know I’ve styled the fur vest before (here), but I wanted to show how versatile it is even with a classic wardrobe. It’s a great glam piece, but paired with the fitted plaid shirt and the riding boots it’s very put together and chic. I also dressed it down even more later this afternoon with Sperrys and a baseball hat to go for a bike ride.  Oh yes and please excuse the messy hair. It was early and there was a lot of crazy volume. ha

Christmas in Cherry

This cherry red dress was absolutely perfect for Christmas Day. My mom picked it up for me a few weeks ago and I fell in love. I’ve been looking for a more put together dress that had a back cut out. This cut out also had the little adorable bow detail. It was fitted and comfortable and looked great paired with LEOPARD PRINT tights and a black blazer for the chillier weather outside. You’ll see I’m getting into necklace layering. I have way too many pretty necklaces to discriminate. haha.

Ruffles for Days

I hope everyone had an amazing Christmas with their families and friends. I was so blessed to spend time with my family on Christmas Eve and also with Fancy Pants and his family on Christmas Day. I did decide to do the tradish outfit posts for both of these, so today is the very ruffly Christmas Eve outfit. The star of the show in this ensemble is clearly the flowy ruffle top. It was a very simple black and nude color palette, but it just felt so special to wear. It is Robert Rodriguez for Neiman Marcus Target, which had amazing quality pieces. I’m so glad I picked this up because it was the perfect festive piece for a more semi casual family Christmas Eve dinner.

Outfit Reflections

Literally found the most perfect title for these posts: outfit reflections because come on I’m taking them in mirrors and doors…literal reflections. Okay, you get it. Sometimes I’m just too witty for my own good. I frequently take pictures of my outfits in mirrors because I know they probably won’t make it into actual full ensemble posts, but are perfect for these. I like breaking down my day to day looks for work and play. A majority of the outfits you see in full posts are for work, but some of these are my weekend casuals which I have requests for too. Mad for Plaid

If there’s any trend that truly never goes out of style for fall and winter, it’s plaid. Plaid is one of those completely versatile patterns that can be put on anything and worn anywhere. There’s an unlimited number of color schemes for any number of clothing pieces or accessories. It’s not just for farmers or  Catholic school uniforms anymore! It can be dressed up in a mini dress for a holiday party with a leather jacket or dressed down in a simple plaid long sleeve with jeans and flats. Plaid can work with any style because it can be the bold centerpiece of an outfit. It can also be downplayed as a neutral add on in a lighter colored pattern to showcase another outfit staple. Plaid is also found at almost any store for any budget especially during the winter months, so don’t hesitate to search around for your perfect plaid pieces.
