I think that working in an adult job for over a year now has made me far too serious. I get bothered by the littlest things and let them completely consume or ruin my whole day. Every day, you should find time to laugh even when you’re having a bad day. You should find joy in the things that are pretty ridiculous in your life especially the things you can’t control. If you think you don’t have those moments, it’s because you’re looking at them as life ruiners instead of life makers. Make those moments make you appreciate being alive and having the ability to laugh still. Even in the two years that FP and I have been together, I know I’ve let the seriousness and monotony control my day to day life, but watching back our early vlogs, it was great to see how much I laughed at the really stupid moments that happened just while we drove.
When your pants split or your top knot gets caught in a tree or you get hit by a bicycle and fall into a bush, just laugh it off because telling those stories (as embarrassing as they are) are going to make other people laugh and be able to get out of the seriousness of their day. Enjoy life, kids. Laugh it off and have a fabulous Thursday!
While I’m starting to build my fall wardrobe, I find myself being drawn to tulle, blush pinks, and flats despite my usual autumn taste for deep colors and boots. I mean, I’ve always had ballerina as my fall back career anyway. Even if you didn’t put down ballerina as your future job in kindergarten, don’t even tell me you’re not lusting over those amazing Chloe flats too.
EXACTLY one year ago today I pressed Publish on my first blog post on Miss Glam Dan. If you’ve known me for more than a few years, you’ll probably know I’ve been an avid blogger since 7th grade. (Don’t go looking for any of those early blogs, they’re melodramatic and full of “omg I’m so in love” after two weeks of knowing someone.) First LiveJournal through middle school, Blogger through high school, Tumblr in college, and now WordPress. I never could have imagined the love, support, and friendships I’d gain through blogging in any form. Miss Glam Dan has been first seriously consistent stint with blogging and I’ve only fallen more in love with it over the past year. I never thought I could be a fashion blogger because at one time, I only had my Blackberry and a crappy 8 mega pixel camera and a closet that I thought I’d only be interested in. Boy was I wrong! :) I figured I’d do this Friday Link Love with links to my top 5 favorite posts and the top 5 most viewed posts I’ve done over the past year. Enjoy the blast from the past with the varying hair colors and picture quality! (Links posted from Left to Right; Top to Bottom)
Again, thank you for all of your support over the past year! I’m excited for the next year and every blogiversary after that! Don’t forget to follow, like, subscribe…(you know the drill) for all of my social media links! Big things are happening! ;)
Living in Arizona, I take advantage of every opportunity that I can to wear my hot pink rain boots. It was pouring one day this week, so I eagerly grabbed my rain boots and paired them with my striped shirt and pencil skirt. The boots, bag, and lipstick added the perfect pop of pink to my rainy day attire. By the way, yes the striped shirt is from the Target Girls section, that link was not a mistake. These are my favorite long sleeve tops and they’re SO inexpensive! Top: Target | Skirt: LOFT | Boots: Sperry | Crossbody: Steve Madden (similar) | Necklace: Hope’s | Lips: MAC Daddy’s Little Girl
The day before the 4th, I went into one of my favorite boutiques, Apricot Lane, and the owner recommended this perfect peplum top! OBSESSED! I love the white lace and how it flatters my figure. The back is see thru, but with a matching cardigan, it’s great for work! I’ve been honestly wearing it nonstop though. Please enjoy the setting of the pictures in front of my office and also Fancy Pants’ reflection in the windows! (And his thumbs up haha) I should also point out his “sexy truck,” his words of course ;). Top: Apricot Lane (found in stores) | Cardigan: Q (similar) | Pants: Target | Wedges: Charlotte Russe (save | splurge) | Necklace: White House Black Market (similar)
One of the easiest and most unexpected ways to make the most of your wardrobe no matter the season is to find the dresses that you can wear as skirts. You can do this either by belting with a sweater in the fall or winter or tying a tanktop or chambray in the spring and summer. I love it with chambrays over a pattern dress like this tribal one. You get more use out of your dresses and your closet feels fuller without any new purchases season to season! Dress (worn as a skirt): Target | Chambray: Old Navy (similar) | Wedges: Charlotte Russe (save | splurge) | Crossbody: Rebecca Minkoff | Lips: maybelline baby lips in pink shock | Nails: essie miss fancy pants
I’m (duuuuh) linking up with Sara at Pearls and Curls for the Saturday Instagram Recap! I’m also excited to announce that as one of the first of many exciting August things: I’ll be making my home over on her sidebar this month! So head over there and show her some love! I hope y’all had a great week and are enjoying your weekend so far! :) Also, if you’d like more of me and my instagram, follow me: @Daniefaz.
Looking for a fun and festive and inexpensive addition to any party or event? Create a Yogurt Bar. Froyo has been all the rage for a bit now with a new frozen yogurt bar on every other corner. This is a fun do-it-yourself twist on that. At work, for every staff member’s birthday we celebrate usually with a cake, cookies, some kind of dessert you can stick a candle in and we sing to them. I’m always tasked as the one to make it happen because this kind of stuff really is my niche. I’ve been seeing pins pop up for yogurt bars for brunches and sleepovers and decided to tackle one for our next staff meeting/set of two birthdays. It took me no more than an hour of prep (shopping and set up) and it was a hit!
What You’ll Need:
Yogurt (I chose Dannon Plain Flavor and Dannon Vanilla)
Large Serving Bowls for the Yogurt (I got these plastic ones for $1 each at none other than the Dollar Store)
Small Serving Bowls for the Toppings (Again, $1 each!!)
Plastic Mini Champagne Glasses ($1 for a set of 4!)
Punch Serving Spoons for the Yogurt
Spoons for the Toppings and to enjoy
Visually it was quite adorable with the toppings and the little glasses and it took little effort. Of course you can always add personal touches to tie into your decor or color scheme with the spoons or tags for each topping or yogurt flavor. But it’s a simple idea that will sure to impress your guests.
It’s always better late than never in my book. I’m finally posting my San Diego recap. San Diego is probably my favorite place in the world. If I could live anywhere, it’d be here. I’ve been here no less than 15 times and I find something new to fall in love with every time. It also holds a special place in my heart because the first time I went was the last family vacation when my parents were still together and it was also the first vacation that Fancy Pants and I took together for his 19th birthday. This trip was solely intended for the OMBAC Over the Line Championship which FP and I both played in. (If you don’t know what Over the Line is, I have pictures below or just google it haha) We played all day Saturday, but were able to spend the rest of the weekend enjoying SD and the beautiful California sunshine!
Friday: We used Friday to explore the area around our hotel: the Hilton Bayfront. In all of the times I’ve been to SD, I had never been in this area near the Padres stadium. It was really cool to be downtown even though we got a bit lost. Fancy Pants also took me to Seaport Village which is like a town within SD and it was absolutely perfect right on the water. You must must MUST go. We ate a delicious dinner with a view of the bay at the Harbor House. The whole night was perfect just getting to walk for miles even though I had blisters for days. Saturday: The day started bright and early at Fiesta Island as in 6:30 am early. The day drinking had already begun even before the first balls were hit at 7:30, so you can imagine what it was like by 7:30 that night. The boys played consistently well all day and didn’t lose their first game until around 2 pm which was awesome. The girls on the other hand started the day with the bye and we didn’t even play once until after 1 which was ridiculous. The boys were one game away from making it to the next round the following weekend which was awesome for them, but unfortunately our team were literally 2 and done because of the double elimination. We went home in a packed SUV of 7 with sunburns and exhaustion. Sunday: SEAWORLD DAY! Seriously, I was pumped for this all weekend. Ever since we didn’t get to go for my birthday, I’ve been dying to go. Fancy Pants and I both love Sea World and hadn’t been in years and were stoked to go! We had an amazing day full of shows, KILLER WHALES, sea animals, laughing, and lathering each other with aloe and sunscreen all day. Thank you so much hun for the best day ever and also making me face my fear of heights with the scary Bayside Skyride that ironically had the best views of the whole city! (prepare for picture overload because we couldn’t get enough!) Monday: We decided to spend our last day on Coronado Island at the beach. We caught the ferry behind our hotel in the morning and walked all the way through town to the Hotel del Coronado, which is again, one of my favorite places. (What isn’t though?) Being on the beach and island with FP was the perfect end to an amazing trip. I think it’s a bit obvious by the pictures that we had an incredible time and it was the perfect summer getaway. I literally have no idea how I’m going to document our two and half week vacation to Italy without literally creating a whole separate blog. haha, but we’ll cross that bridge in October when we get there. ;)
